Ventures – Ages 15-17

This September, we’re launching our first standalone Venture Scout section—an exciting opportunity for older youth to lead adventures, build skills, and develop as leaders in a more independent and dynamic setting.

Meetings & Age Group

  • When: Wednesday, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Ages: 15 to 17 years
  • Part of Scouting Ireland’s ONE Programme, offering youth-led adventures, leadership, and personal development at higher levels.
  • Section Leader: Eduardo Gonçalves

What Venture Scouts Do

Venture Scouts design and lead their own activities, supported by Scouters. Typical adventures include:

  • Multi-day camping, mountain expeditions
  • Water-based trips like kayaking, canoeing, and sailing
  • National and county events
  • Community projects, youth leadership, and peer mentorship

Structure & Leadership

Venture Scouts meet in Crews, structured and led by a Venture Executive—a team of peers who plan, manage, and deliver the programme. As a team, they handle all aspects: venue selection, budgeting, food, equipment, and risk assessment. Supported by adult Scouters, they get real-world leadership and project management experience.

Our new Venture section has lots of space and opportunities—we’d love to welcome motivated 15–17 year olds.
